Navy Keep What You've Earned and Prescription for Discharge Combined Campaign Survey

You are being invited to take part in a survey titled “Navy Keep What You've Earned and Prescription for Discharge Combined Campaign Survey,” conducted by Navy Alcohol Abuse Prevention (OPNAV N170A) and the Navy Drug Detection and Deterrence (OPNAV N170D). Your decision to take part is voluntary and you may refuse to take part, or choose to stop taking part, at any time. A decision not to take part or to stop taking part will not negatively impact you in any way.

This survey is Institutional Review Board (IRB) exempt based on its program evaluation nature, according to the Clinical Investigation Department, Navy Medical Center Portsmouth. 

PURPOSE/ROUTINE USES: The purpose of this survey is to collect data to understand Sailors’ knowledge and attitudes associated with alcohol and prescription drug use, and to help measure communications effectiveness of the Navy's prevention campaigns. The intention of this survey is NOT to generate conclusions about alcohol or drug use that can be applied universally, outside of the campaign development team. The resulting information and data files will be analyzed and maintained by OPNAV N170A and OPNAV N170D and their support contractors where they may be used to help develop and refine effective social marketing messages, products, and approaches aimed at reducing alcohol and drug abuse among Sailors.

PARTICIPATION: Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary. Failure to respond to any of the questions will NOT result in any penalties except possible lack of representation of your views in the final results and outcomes. You may discontinue participation at any time without penalty. There is no direct benefit from being in this study; however, taking part may help improve Navy policies, programs, and/or procedures for Navy personnel in the future. 

RISK(S):  The only risk to you is inappropriate disclosure of data you provide.

CONFIDENTIALITY: All responses will be held in confidence by OPNAV N170A and OPNAV N170D and their support contractors.  Information you provide will be considered only when statistically summarized with the responses of others, and will not be attributable to any single individual.  The information provided will not become part of your military record and will not affect your career in any way.
